A Year of Shakespeare

According to Variety and Broadway Buzz, a new Romeo & Juliet musical will debut in the Big Apple next season if all goes according to plan.

While normally I would cringe at the news, this case is entirely different. Titled “The Last Goodbye,” it features — and indeed is constructed around — the lilting, gorgeous, gossamer melodies of Jeff Buckley.

For those of you unfamiliar with the late (and sorely missed) Buckley’s work, here’s a sample, courtesy of Youtube.

This is one musical I’ll be clamoring to see… and hear. <sigh>
